Are you a proud owner of a Rivian electric vehicle? Do you want to charge your EV at home with ease and convenience?

If so, you might be interested in getting the Rivian wall charger, a smart device that can deliver fast and reliable charging for your R1T pickup truck or R1S SUV.

But before you plug in your wall charger, you might want to read this article first.

We will tell you everything you need to know about the Rivian wall charger, including how to fix some common Bluetooth pairing issues that might prevent you from accessing its full potential.

Read on to find out more!

What are the Bluetooth pairing issues?

The Rivian wall charger can deliver up to 11.5 kW of power, which translates to about 25 miles of range per hour of charging.

The wall charger also features a sleek design, a 25-foot cable, and a smart LED ring that indicates the charging status.

To access the wall charger’s features, such as setting schedules, adjusting power output, monitoring energy usage, and receiving software updates, customers need to pair their wall charger to their smartphone via Bluetooth.

This can be done by using the Rivian app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices.

However, some Rivian customers have experienced problems with the pairing process, such as getting stuck on the pairing screen, not being able to find the wall charger on the app, or having the pairing fail repeatedly.

These issues prevent the users from accessing the wall charger’s features and enjoying the full benefits of their EV.

How to troubleshoot the Bluetooth pairing issues?

Rivian has acknowledged these issues and has provided some troubleshooting steps for the customers.

According to Rivian’s support page, customers who encounter problems with their wall charger should call (888) RIVIAN1 in the United States or (844) RIVIAN1 in Canada to speak with Rivian’s Customer Engagement Center.

An agent can help locate and troubleshoot the issue.

One possible cause of the issue is a faulty communication cable between the front panel and the main unit of the wall charger.

The customer may need to remove and reconnect the cable using the T20 security bit that came with the wall charger.

This can be done by following these steps:

1. Turn off the power at your circuit breaker.

2. Remove the four screws on each corner of your Wall Charger’s front panel using your T20 security bit.

3. Carefully pull off your front panel.

4. Locate your communication cable (the white cable with a black connector) and disconnect it from both ends.

5. Reconnect your communication cable securely on both ends.

6. Reattach your front panel using your four screws.

7. Turn on the power at your circuit breaker.

How to get the latest software update for the wall charger?

Additionally, Rivian has announced that it will release a software update for its wall charger beginning in late November 2022.

The update will improve the wall charger’s performance and functionality over time. To get this update (and future ones), customers need to make sure their wall charger is connected to Wi-Fi.

This can be done by following these steps:

1. Open the Rivian App on your phone.

2. Tap the icon at the top of the main screen, and choose Add Gear.

3. Select Get Started, and follow the on-screen instructions to reset your circuit breaker, ensure Bluetooth is on and pair to your Wall Charger.

4. Once paired, tap Connect to Wi-Fi and follow the instructions to select your network and enter your password.

Rivian hopes that these steps will help resolve the Bluetooth pairing issues and enhance the customer experience with its wall charger.

Rivian also encourages its customers to share their feedback and suggestions on its forums and social media platforms.
